How vacuum casting works

Master model
A smooth, precise master part is produced by 3D printing.

Silicone mould
A silicone mould is cast around the master, then opened to remove it.

Vacuum casting
PU resin is cast into the mould by differential pressure, without air bubbles.

Frequently asked questions
How many parts can be made from one silicone mould?
Typically around 20 to 25 parts per mould, depending on the geometry and the resin. For larger quantities, we simply make additional moulds.
Which materials are available?
Polyurethane resins that simulate ABS, PC, PMMA (transparent), PA, PP and rubber-like TPU, in a wide range of colours and hardnesses.
How long does vacuum casting take?
Usually around two weeks for the first parts, including the master model and the silicone mould. Your quote gives the exact lead time.
When should I choose vacuum casting rather than injection moulding?
For 20 to 200 parts, pre-series and market tests: you get injection-like parts without the cost and lead time of a steel mould.
Can the parts be painted or textured?
Yes: colour can be added to the resin, and parts can be painted, textured, screen printed or fitted with metal inserts.
